Concert Band

SAJC Band Room

There will be an audition and interview. The audition will take the form of a rehearsal, during which, the applicants will

• Join us in our band practice (where they will play warm up chorales and scales 5#’s, 5b’s in concert and instrument’s key);

• Have sectionals along with their seniors (where they will sight read a piece, given on the spot by the Section Leaders);

• Perform one choice piece that will showcase a range of their techniques; and

• Play games with the band.

• You will be informed if you are shortlisted for the audition and interview, via your MOE student ICON email. Please do not come down for the audition and interview if you have not received the email informing that you are shortlisted.

• If you have been invited for the audition and interview,

  • Please come in your secondary school uniform; and

  • Instruments may be made available upon request. Applicants need to bring their own mouthpieces.

Audition

Candidates are required to perform one standard set of choreography conducted by the instructor and to present a one-minute original self-choreographed work. The performance audition repertoire should be of good technical and expressive standard. Candidates should also be prepared for a short interview segment.

Drama

(Please take note of trial dates. By appointment only. Shortlisted  candidates will be notified via email.)

The audition will include three components:

• Applicants will have 20 min to interpret an unseen soliloquy or outline how they intend to stage a piece of work;

• Applicants will then take place in the form of a rehearsal, where applicants can expect to participate in improvisation activities and games alongside current members of the Drama Club.

• Thereafter, a group interview will be conducted.

It is preferred that applicants have: 

• Represented school in Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation

• Achievement/Awards in Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation

• Acting and/ or staging experiences outside the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation

Candidates who have acting or crew experience in TV, video, film or professional theatre companies, such as Act 3, will also be considered.

• Please note that only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an audition and interview.

• If shortlisted, please come for the audition and interview in your secondary school PE attire.
