Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are an integral part of the holistic, well-rounded education that the college seeks to provide for our students. In particular, CCAs help build character, nurturing in them qualities like resilience, tenacity, confidence, perseverance and teamwork which will better prepare our students to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Qualitative Approach to CCA and CIP
The Ministry of Education no longer requires CCA/CIP points for admission into our local universities from 2007. Our universities will adopt a qualitative approach in considering CCA/CIP experience in JC. This qualitative approach supports efforts in the college to encourage students to follow their interests and passions, and to take greater ownership of their CCA and CIP involvement. By evaluating CCA and CIP qualitatively, our universities are actually placing a higher premium on and recognition of CCA and CIP beyond the CCA grading system for admissions score.
CCAs and the CIP are integral to a balanced and holistic education in our college. They provide opportunities for character building and nurture life skills and attributes such as leadership, teamwork and compassion. Therefore, the college expects students to actively participate in at least ONE CCA and be involved in community service within and beyond the college.
